A Very Naughty Christmas – Melbourne

A sexed up Christmas show that delivers plenty of naughty in a nice way.

Unless you have been living in a deep, black hole (What’s up Pakenham?), you’d be aware that Christmas is upon us. Yes, Christmas. That ode to commercial spending and the endless school holidays as parents cross off the days until school starts again with ever-increasing urgency. That one. So, it comes as a pleasant surprise to find an adult themed show that tips the scales of prim and proper into the suggested carnal delights of a campy Santa. You bad boy you.

Segmented into two acts with a 20-minute interval, this 105-minute laugh fest is just the wine cooler of relaxation everyone needs at this time of year.

A mixture of dance, singing, skits and audience interaction, this is a high-powered sleigh ride that mixes the absurd with the sublime.

The Alex Theatre has pulled out all stops to give its beloved audience one final, gob-smacking show. After this, the Alex will be gone, and St Kilda will be all the poorer for it. The audience turned out in droves to see this show, and it did not disappoint.

Well-lit with coloured spotlights and bar lighting along the stairs to the mezzanine, with a kick-arse band jamming their talented best, the songs rock, the dancers bedazzle, and the good-natured audience were more than happy to participate to the ‘story-time’ of A Night Before Christmas. The guy who volunteered to play the mouse, mate, you’ve missed your calling!

Delighting the audience with songs such as Holy Shit It’s Christmas, then launching into a femme fatale take on Baby It’s Cold Outside, Sex Me A Merry Christmas and the standout Mr Grinch, I was unable to wipe the smile from my face as the talented cast made up of the brilliant Asmara Soekotjo (dance captain- I adore you!), Callum Marshall, Grace Laing, Jarrod Moore, Jordan Twigg, Justin Wise, Kate Yaxley and a delightfully naughty Tim Paige rounding the team off as Santa.

In summary, the cast are sexy, gorgeous and professional, the perfect antidote to lose yourself from life’s troubles for a couple of hours and prepare for the upcoming shock of the Christmas spend.

Presented by Woodward Productions, Executive Producer Alex Woodward (The Woman In Black) has brought this naughty little gem to Brisbane audiences for 8 years, so you know that this is a highly polished and well-rehearsed performance.

And how naughty is naughty? Does a dance with dildos, or a sexy strip tease down to their bra and g-string count? Justin Wise happy to show off his lingerie here. No? What? You want more? Goodness, you are naughty!

Well, there’s plenty more, and I won’t go into details. Just join in the fun, bring an open mind, and celebrate at the end where its mandatory to get up and danced with the beautiful crew in the aisles. My companion booked to see the show again as soon as it finished, and she never does that. Put a smile on that dial and go see it. You won’t be disappointed

A Very Naughty Christmas plays at The Alex Theatre, St. Kilda, at 7:30pm, until Saturday December 21st, 2024.
