Popera, is the merging of two worlds. Pop music, complete with divas and Opera, which was considered the “Pop” music of its day.

Sex, Death and Politics are considered to be three of the four prohibited subjects, with Tax being the fourth.

What could go wrong when you combine all of the elements into a sassy sixty-minute 18+ info-comedy that’s so funny that you will be bowled over in fits of laughter.

Popera, is the brainchild of Uma Dobia & Bronny Lane

Dobia & Lane are both graduates of Melbourne University’s Conservatorium of Music.

Dobia presents an over-the-top “Heart on My Sleeve” game show host.

Her Soprano Operatic training (Master of Opera), along with her love of Pop music, is highlighted through the seamless interchange ability between the two genres.

To further add to her musical prowess, the opening number also included elements of Rap.

The show is light-hearted and fast-paced, with audience participation using quiz-style multichoice questions.

Incorporating typical quiz devices like “press that button” and “spin the wheel,” segments focused on the topics: Sex, Death, & Politics.

Not to mention heaps of fun around Name that Diva and Fun facts about Opera Composers.

If you’re a lover of Opera or a fan of pop divas, you will definitely love this style of comedy.

If you enjoy sassy comedy with heaps of unmistakable glam.

Dobia appears wearing a red feather boa, with a bright red body suit, Black tailcoat and very high heel silver sparkling knee-high boots, topped with a small red circus hat. All of which speaks to her personality and style of comedy.

The very catchy original title song Sex, Death & Politics, Popera Popera is an absolute standout that resonates well with the audience.

The show is extremely funny, satisfying and very relatable, a must-see comedy.
