I’ve come to Australia, STRAYA. Melbourne baaaaby. All the way from Yorkshire in the UK. You know, the place with the puddings. I’ve got stories to tell from my travels about cage fighting Swedish people. Working in a strip clubs. And how I ended up living under a bridge like a troll. Maybe you have a story that can beat mine, I’ll give you five dollarydoos (or whatever you people call money).

How would you describe your show to someone who knows very little about it?

I’m using sausages as a measurement to determine what the hell Australia is and how it compares to the UK within the form of stand up comedy.

What makes it stand out and why should people see it?

I will be handing out free sausages in order to connect with the Australian people.

I’m a poor man from the north of England who’s come all this way and spent all of his money to entertain the people of Melbourne, I am a sort of zoo animal.

How long was the process from idea to writing to stage? Any challenges along the way?

It’s pretty much the culmination of a fair few years of stand-up – so in terms of challenges, just the endless amount of failure and gigging to audiences of empty chairs.

What attracts you to comedy?

I love that comedians can tap into the deep parts of us that we want to hide and shine some light on it. It makes me feel free-er to share those things and highlights the frivolity of life.

How would you describe your relationship with the audience and what do you love the most about live performance?

I would say my audience are watching the ‘scumbag friend’ of theirs talk through their thought process. I also talk to the audience a lot and love to poke and prod.

I love being able to create an idea and bring it to life, to get someone to see this comedic point of view and live in it for a brief moment.

Who would you say have been your biggest inspirations?

There were some people I met at the Edinburgh fringe – Lucy Hopkins was someone I met before I started comedy and showed me that this was actually a thing you could do. Without meeting her and the Blundabus venue at fringe I would never have started doing this.

What are three things that would surprise people to learn about you?

1: I think my surnames French

2: I was an assistant mechanic for a couple days

3: I don’t like the beach.

What do you love most about performing at MICF?

I haven’t done it yet – so I am yet to love and learn.

What comes after the MICF for you?

I have to get a job as I have spent all my money on the festival and have been fired from a few jobs leading up to this point. Please see my show have nothing left.

Expect off-beat observations, silly storytelling, craaaaazy crowd work. For the person who thinks “what the hell is going on?” and “Is anyone else seeing this?” multiple times a week.
