Season 2 is about dreaming. Dreaming unpacked through possibilities and impossibilities, journeying across themes of memory, grief, ritual, resistance, joy and cosmologies.
This Season arrives with two dance works, one a collision of street dance and game play. In our second, a dance duo dig deep into meditative practice that leaps into the absurd.
A Deaf-led opera, revisiting a pivotal decision to ban the use of sign language in Deaf education champions the power of storytelling. Next, two dynamic new solo works come to life on stage, one grounded in Saibaian knowledge traditions and what carries through to futures beyond. The second takes stories of family and Samoan diaspora into urban life, translating grief and belonging to a place of joy and play.
The performance season wraps with a beautiful collaboration across borders and form, featuring Javanese song and movement drawn from ceremony and ritual.
Until the end of the year the Supper Room will also play home to two screen works exploring how time and archives intersect with performance.
The Season is playful, curious and contemplative, fusing genre, artwork, perspectives and lived experience. They represent our histories, our dreams and our futures.
As always at Arts House, we invite your questions, inquiry and curiosity – so come join us.
