Multi award-winning Lebanese comedian Fady Kassab has firmly cemented his place in Australian comedy since winning triple j’s RAW Comedy in 2019. His show-stopping performance was broadcast on national TV and saw Fady flown to that year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe where he was selected to feature in the Best of Edinburgh Showcase Show.
With his star continuing to rise, Fady has since performed comedy on TV including world-renowned comedy festival Just For Laughs’ showcase of the hottest Australian comedians; Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s showcase Comedy Up Late, as a panellist and writer on ABCTV’s Question Everything and he’s soon to be seen as a feature act on Jim Jefferies and Friends, coming to Seven in 2025.
In just a few highlights from the past year or so, Fady sold out his Sydney Comedy Festival and encore seasons, made his Adelaide Fringe debut and opened massive shows for global stars Bassem Youssef, Jim Jefferies, Effie and more.
He consistently sells out his shows at Sydney Comedy Festival and is expected to do so once more when he returns to the festival hub, Factory Theatre with three shows on Wednesday 14, Thursday 15 and Friday 16 May before heading to Queensland to make his Brisbane Comedy Festival debut, with four shows only – nightly at Brisbane Powerhouse from Thursday 22 May through Sunday 25 May
Fady’s upbringing in Lebanon, where he spent the first seventeen years of his life growing up in a raging war zone, along with his migration to Australia and years spent in Germany has given Fady a truly unique perspective to draw from… but he never sacrifices the laughs to do so. The insightful comic credits the traumas of war with fuelling his optimistic approach to life and comedy in general. He speaks funny truths with dark undertones and approaches topics delicately and provocatively.
This star of Australian comedy (like Mel Gibson or Russell Crowe, he’s ours OK? ) can no longer be called “rising” – he is already there.
A must-see – book early!
