This rarely performed, pivotal piece of queer theatre is making its way to Midsumma! With an ensemble cast of eight, as well as as well as renowned harpist, Jacinta Dennett, Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens will make for an intimate and unforgettable night at the theatre.
Born from the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, this show gives life and, more importantly, voice to the many unspoken stories of the AIDS epidemic.
This production will feature an original block of the Melbourne AIDS Memorial Quilt, generously loaned by Thorne Harbour Health, the custodians of the Quilt. Heirlume Production will be fundraising for Thorne Harbour Health throughout the season, who support HIV positive Victorians, as well providing a range of health and wellbeing services to LGBTQIA+ communities.
From the Director: “At a time when the queer community’s existence and humanity is being challenged once again, this show brings stories of hope, humour and dignity in the face of darkness. It helps us reflect on how we survive and grow, and honours those who have gone before.” – Jesse Matthews
