The World’s First Playable Comedy Show, KARATE MAN, Returns to Adelaide Fringe in 2025

After thrilling audiences at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and a sell-out run at Sydney Fringe, the groundbreaking playable comedy show, KARATE MAN, is set to make a triumphant return to the Adelaide Fringe Festival as part of the 2025 Gluttony program.

A Unique Interactive Comedy Experience

In this interactive comedy show, you take control of Karate Man (literally, via bluetooth controller) and help him overcome zany challenges, befriend crazy characters and make life-altering decisions in this one-of-a-kind, award nominated experience.

Critical Acclaim

On its 2024 tour, KARATE MAN received 5-star reviews from Sydney Theatre Reviews (NSW) and Lilithia Reviews (SA), with the latter calling it “an absolute blast!” My Melbourne Arts (VIC) praised it as “a brilliantly constructed comedy,” and Sydney Arts Guide (NSW) labelled it a “classic on many comedy levels”. It has been nominated by Sydney Fringe for Best in Comedy and Best in Interactive.

Brought to Life by Comedy Innovators

Designed and directed by absurdist sketch superstars Bruno Dubosarsky and Daniel Scarratt, KARATE MAN is brought to life by a team of Sydney’s top talented alternative comedians and improvisers including Maddie Atkins, Tim Dunk, Juliet Rae Timmerman, and Steph Ryan (Cranston Cup Winner). Also featuring an original nostalgic soundtrack composed by Liam Scarratt (Converted!, ATYP). Bruno Dubosarsky, co-creator and ‘Karate Man’ himself, says audiences will enjoy the surprisingly heartwarming choose-your-own-adventure narrative of the show.

“KARATE MAN is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. It’s an actual playable video game, with the most realistic graphics in the world.” says Dubosarsky. “It’s not just a show; it’s a cooperative adventure that the whole crowd plays together.”
