James Terry Collective has announced it will be bringing to Melbourne the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical Kinky Boots, with hit music by Cyndi Lauper.
This new production will star Christian Charisiou, in the role of Charlie Price. Best known for playing Robbie Hart in the Australian tour of The Wedding Singer (DVE), Cry-Baby in Cry-Baby the Musical (LPD & Hayes Theatre Co.) and most recently touring with the John Farnham Band in Rolling Thunder Vietnam.
Introducing Carl De Villa as the sensational drag queen Lola. Born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, Carl moved to Australia in 2012 and has since rose to prominence with appearances on The Voice (2019), and Channel 7’s All Together Now (2018). They’ve gained international success in shows paying tribute to Prince, Bruno Mars, and Queen, in addition to their hit album “War Cry” (2020).

Based on a true story, the musical follows a struggling shoe factory owner who forms an unlikely partnership with a glamorous drag queen to save his business by producing high-heeled boots. Kinky Boots has inspired audiences across the globe, showing everyone we can change the world when we change our minds. Filled with glitter,glam and a whole lot of sole, Kinky Boots is a reminder to celebrate your life triumphantly. Returning to Kinky Boots to Direct is Martin Croft, who was the resident director in the original Australian tour.
On the team is Nathan Firmin (Next to Normal) as the Musical Director, Luca Dinardo (Hamilton) and Jordan Charles Herbert (Ministry of Dance) as Co-Choreographers.This new production is produced by James Terry Collective, following their Green Room Award winning production of Next to Normal (2022), starring Queenie van de Zandt. Other acclaimed productions include, Legally Blonde the Musical (2019) and RENT (2018).
