Legendary duo Penn & Teller celebrate 50 years of magic at Arts Centre Melbourne

by | Jul 23, 2024

Masters of modern magic Penn & Teller embark on their 50th anniversary world tour in Australia in early 2025, including a return to Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall from 21 – 26 January. Celebrating 50 years of magic and mayhem, the anniversary tour will showcase incredible new tricks, and offer audiences in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane a rare opportunity to see the much-loved duo perform live.

From their humble beginnings in the 1970’s to becoming the longest-running resident headline act in Las Vegas history, Penn & Teller have redefined the genre of magic, invented their own niche in comedy and carved out their well-deserved status as icons across five decades of incredible showmanship.

Consummate performers, Penn & Teller have continually defied expectations – and sometimes physics – over the years with their skewering of traditional magic tricks and cleverly crafted illusions that capture audiences’ minds and imaginations.

Alongside hit TV series such as Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Emmy-winning TV specials and hundreds of appearances on shows such as Colbert, The Simpsons, Friends and The West Wing, these lifelong friends have astounded and dazzled global audiences for generations with their mix of mind-blowing magic and comedy.

Their illustrious career has earned them a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and this year the Academy of Magical Arts bestowed upon them their highest honour, naming them the 2024 Masters Fellowship recipients.

“Our 50th year of magic will begin in Australia.  We had such a blast performing in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane last time, we just had to start the second half of our century Down Under,”
said Penn.

Penn & Teller will perform at the Sydney Opera House from 11-18 January 2025, Arts Centre Melbourne from 21-26 January 2025 and Queensland Performing Arts Centre from 29 January to 7 February 2025.
