MALTHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY IN RESIDENCE ‘A DAYLIGHT CONNECTION’ TO PRESENT DOUBLE BILL THIS NOVEMBER

by | Oct 17, 2023

This November, Malthouse Theatre presents an extraordinary double bill by First Nations company A DAYLIGHT CONNECTION, featuring the critically acclaimed productions Whose Gonna Love ‘Em? I am that I AM and the return season of the 2022 hit Chase.

Led by visionary artists Carly Sheppard, Kamara Bell-Wykes, Daniel Nixon and smallsound, A DAYLIGHT CONNECTION is Malthouse Theatre’s Company in Residence for 2023.

WHOSE GONNA LOVE ‘EM? I AM THAT I AM

Whose Gonna Love ‘Em? I am that i AM is the ground-breaking post-traumatic performance thesis written and directed by Kamarra Bell-Wykes. The production earned widespread recognition, securing the 2021 Patrick White Award.

Featuring Maggie Church-Kopp, Corey Saylor-Brunskill, and Maurial Spearim, Whose Gonna Love ‘Em? I am that i AM will deliver a captivating narrative that ventures into an absurd group therapy session held somewhere in the deepest cells of the collective mind and the colonised heart.

Dates: 22 November – 3 December 2023 – Tower

Opening Night: Thursday 23 November

CHASE

Meet Chase. She’s living her best life. Just a shame there’s no one left to see it. Compelling, repelling, and funny. Joined by her zany crew of besties and YouTube subscribers for company, Chase is throwing the party to end all parties. The party to end the world! That’s if any of them actually even exist…

Equally offensive and endearing to theatregoers from every walk of life, Carly Sheppard has been developing and performing the character of Chase for nearly a decade. Now she joins forces with Kamarra Bell-Wykes to deliver the most over-the-top, cracked version of Chase yet.

Dates: 22 November – 3 December 2023 – Tower
