Mo’Ju and thndo join in multi-arts celebration Art Souk

by | Nov 13, 2024

Curated by boundary-pushing Lebanese-Australian DJ, radio presenter and live performer MzRizk comes multi-arts celebration Art Souk from 6 – 7 December 2024 at Arts Centre Melbourne’s newest venue The Show Room.

In collaboration with Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV), MzRizk’s sharp eye for artistry has brought together some of Naarm’s creative innovators in one place for an intimate afternoon and two electrifying (and different) evenings of incredible local talent.

The diverse line-up features performances by Mo’Ju featuring Halo Vocal Ensemble, thndo, Te Ara Hononga, Marhaba Charbouli, Immy Owusu & Kojo Noah and KOKORO by Julie Ann Minaai and Noriko Tadano. There will also be interactive installations and digital art by Gabriela Isabel González, Kieran Molaeb, Majed Fayad, Bexx Djentuh-Davis, Ayman Kaake, Katyoun Javan and Ezz Monem. Plus, join Being Biracial Podcast co-hosts Maria Birch-Morunga and Kate Robinson for a live episode recording.

Art Souk is an uplifting assembly of performance, installation, conversation and expression that traverses artforms. The cross-section of contemporary artistic practice featured invites community engagement through knowledge-sharing, conversations and workshops to spark dialogue on art, culture and identity.

Free refreshments will be on offer to attendees, served with the warm hospitality of Onur Kurt of O’Khave.

Art Souk is initiated through MAV’s DIASPORAS program, supported by the City of Melbourne, Creative Victoria, Creative Australia, Arts Centre Melbourne and Creative Australia.

MAV aims to empower Black, Indigenous and People of Colour artists, foster mutual understanding and create meaningful connections that extend beyond the event. Art Souk will be a platform for creatives to showcase their experiences and be recognised as essential to a thriving arts ecology.
