They’re not just comedy powerhouses, they’re comedy powerhomes. That’s right, due to popular demand Joel Creasey and Rhys Nicholson are reuniting to bring back the show that redefined tinsel-based comedy: Rhys & Joel’s Family Christmas! Presented by Comedy Republic, this year’s limited run sees the duo roll their sleigh (pronounced slay) into Melbourne’s The Capitol on Saturday 6 December and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Sunday 7 December, joined by an all-star lineup of celebrity guests and their extended comedy family.
What began as a cheeky idea between friends has become one of Australia’s favourite Christmas traditions. Their 2023 tour sold out across the country and was filmed as a Foxtel/Binge Christmas special, drawing huge audiences and rave reviews. Now, after taking 2024 off to let the plum pudding settle, Joel and Rhys are back, with fresh stories, bigger surprises and a guest list that guarantees this year’s show will be the loudest, gayest and most unpredictable reunion of the season.
“It’s the time of year when I buy too many suits, Joel buys too much champagne, and we both buy ourselves more time on stage.” said Rhys Nicholson.
Each night will see the pair welcome some of Australia’s most recognisable faces from comedy, television and music for a two-hour feast of stand-up, storytelling and festive chaos. Think celebrity secrets swapped for carols, gossip served with cocktails, and the kind of Christmas conversation you could never have at home unless you want your nana to spit out her trifle in shock. Special guests will be unwrapped closer to the dates so as not to ruin the Christmas surprise, but rest assured whichever big names land on stage, Joel and Rhys will force them to enter via the chimney.
“I’T’S BEEN A YEAR! AM I RIGHT?!” said Joel Creasey. “But I do love my best friend Rhys Nicholson, the spirit of Christmas . and attention! So what better way to kick off the festive season than coming to see me and my best bish hosting a night of Christmas filled frivolity and fun. Surprise guests! Not-remotely-safe-for-broadcast stories! The perfect stocking stuffer for the ones you love . or those that really need to cheer the F up!”
Following its sold-out 2023 debut, Rhys & Joel’s Family Christmas has become the unofficial holiday variety show for Australia’s comedy and entertainment royalty. Past guests have included Osher Günsberg, Kitty Flanagan, Chrissie Swan, Dave Hughes, Kate Miller-Heidke, Eddie Perfect, Nazeem Hussain, Christie Whelan Browne, Geraldine Hickey, Kween Kong, Hannah Conda and Susie Youssef — and this year’s guest list is set to deliver even more famous presents under the tree.
These shows cap off another huge year for Australia’s favourite self-proclaimed drunk aunties. Joel Creasey, co-host of Australia’s number-one drive radio show Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel, fresh from his sold-out 2025 national stand-up tour Thanks For Being Here and recently engaged on air, reunites with Rhys Nicholson, the razor-sharp judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under and recent Taskmaster contestant, who has just wrapped acclaimed runs of their hit live show Huge Big Party Congratulations! across Australia and the UK.
Presented by Comedy Republic, Rhys & Joel’s Family Christmas returns for two nights only.
