The Friends of Yule: A Theatrical Song Cycle by Joachim Coghlan

by | Nov 27, 2024

Christmas is a time that has inspired humanity to create the most wonderfully profound, eccentric, cheesy, and seemingly bizarre stories and traditions. The Friends of Yule, an original theatrical song cycle by composer/performer Joachim Coghlan, gleefully explores the delightful worlds of these cultural characters, from pagan practices to medieval folk tales to contemporary customs, through the use of various styles of Christmas music such as classical choral carol, jingling 50s rock, and jazzy musical theatre ballad.

The concert premiere of this thrilling new work fully embodies the essence of “the silly season” and will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy in the way that only Christmas can.

7:30pm Wednesday 18 December
