The Melbourne Cabaret Festival Roadshow – Live at The Count’s

by | Sep 6, 2024

This October marks a month of cabaret as MPAC presents The Melbourne Cabaret Festival Roadshow Live at The Count’s.  Partnering with the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, The Count’s  will deliver a variety of theatrical performances.

Highlights include:

The Cabaret Hour: Jens Radda and Iva Rosebud, 9 October

Melbourne’s award-winning cabaret duo Jens Radda and Iva Rosebud present an unforgettable show of soaring live vocals, laugh out loud comedy, razor-sharp wit and dazzling dance numbers. With a setlist featuring the timeless tunes of Sinatra, Piaf, Porter and Bassey, every moment will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and singing along.

Jens Radda, famed for Skank Sinatra (winner of Best Cabaret at Adelaide Fringe), and Iva Rosebud, the iconic Tradie By Day, Drag Queen By Night, have toured the world, stamping their mark on every capital city in Australia as well as internationally in Copenhagen and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Alyce Platt presents: Drole de Petit Monde, 23 October

Alyce Platt is an iconic Australian singer-songwriter and actor who presents her music through the slightly crooked lens of the Indie-pop artist. No Alyce Platt performance is ever the same. She commands a wondrous, varied musical arsenal, playing in multiple moods, configurations and styles. Her original songs, like the artist herself, are quirky, emotive and heartfelt. Alyce Platt always performs with passion and intensity.

Alyce returns from triumphant shows in New York, London and Paris for this special performance, presenting a smouldering jazz infused proposition, with jazz interpretations of her original material as well as selections from the classic jazz and pop song books. Double bass, piano, sultry vocals, dark rooms and strong drinks – in this performance Alyce Platt turns up the heat without breaking a sweat.

Get It Together, 16 October

Step into the whimsical world of laughter and music with “Get It Together” – a one-man comedic extravaganza that promises to tickle your funny bone and tug at your heartstrings. Fresh from celebrated seasons at the Melbourne Cabaret Festival and The Butterfly Club, Alister Kingsley brings his unique blend of wit and melody to the stage.

In just 60 uproarious minutes, Kingsley invites you on a hilarious journey through the everyday absurdities we all know and love. Seamlessly weaving between uproarious original songs and classic stand-up comedy, “Get It Together” is a delightful exploration of life’s quirks and quibbles. From the mundane to the downright bizarre, Kingsley’s observational humour captures the essence of our shared experiences with a gentle touch that’s never too political or aggressive.

ELTON JOHN – YOUR SONG, 30 October

What makes 70s music so fabulous? Elton John for one! ELTON JOHN – YOUR SONG invites you to pay tribute to the undisputed worldwide emperor of glam pop! Whip out those old flares and zhoozh your hair as Matthew Hadgraft (ABBALive, Peter Allen Live in Inverted Commas, The Boy From Oz) sings up the greatest party night of the decade – just like the movie, but wayyy better ‘cause you’re allowed to sing along.

The Count’s is a live music venue with bar and bistro and one of the five venues that make up Monash University Performing Arts Centres (MPAC). Beyond the music, The Count’s Kitchen will be open for bar and food service when attending a performance. Owned by the Keyte Brothers (owners of Blondie, Southbank), The Count’s kitchen has a plethora of delicious meals to enjoy before the show.
