More than 10,000 people attended the inaugural Great Laugh in the Park as part of the Sydney Comedy Festival’s 20th anniversary program.
The event which was held on Saturday 26 April at Tumbalong Park featured more than eight hours of free family entertainment that showcased comedy performers for all ages including, Dorothy the Dinosaur & Friends, The Listies, The Greatest Magic Show on Earth and comedians Jimmy Rees, Matt Okine, Dave Hughes, Sarah Pascoe and Aunty Donna to name a few.
The crowds were further entertained by roving stilt walkers and musicians, circus workshops and the magical Alkazar Tent which featured its own all-day program. Laughing was very much on the agenda with the world class comedy leaving everyone in stitches, only then for Furnace and the Fundamentals to have everyone on their feet dancing to their energetic mixtape setlist well into the night.
“Today’s event is the realisation of some long-held plans. To see thousands of people of all ages laugh together in such an iconic location is a great reward and testament to where the Festival sits in this city’s cultural landscape.” said Festival Director Jorge Menidis.
Great Laugh in The Park was presented by the Sydney Comedy Festival as part of its month-long program of events across the city through until 18th May 2025.
