 One woman’s journey with Endometriosis

Fresh from a sold-out debut run at La Mama Theatre’s Explorations Programme in August 2024, (t)issue is a relatable and heartbreaking story that follows Emma and her journey growing up with chronic pain.

Emma gets her period at ten. Her family is overjoyed. Her friends are jealous. She now has a reason to get out of PE. She’s suddenly winning the rat race to puberty and no one seems to be alarmed. Until she starts missing school, birthdays, and withdraws more and more into herself.

(t)issue is an exploration of a woman’s conflicting relationship with chronic pain, that digs into the physical and mental challenges of growing up with women’s health issues, and how early medical dismissals bleed and solidify trauma into her adult life.
