Award Winning Director, Iain Sinclair brings John Logan’s Tony Award winning play RED to Melbourne.

Directed by Iain Sinclair, starring Dylan Smith (House of Dragon, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) and emerging actor Jordan Briggs (16th Street Actors Studio Grad), this intense drama by one of Hollywood’s biggest screenwriters will play a strictly limited season at fortyfivedownstairs from November 20th 2025.

Under the watchful gaze of his young assistant Ken, and the threatening presence of a new generation of artists, Mark Rothko takes on his greatest challenge yet: to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting.

Prepare for a night of revelation and raw emotion as two actors face off in a gripping theatrical showdown. “Having been moved to tears by Rothko personally, I am thrilled to the challenge of playing such a brilliant artist, and the chance to be directed by Iain Sinclair was unpassable.” says actor Dylan Smith

RED will play a strictly limited season at fortyfivedownstairs Melbourne from November 20th to November 30th. The show runs for 90 minutes without intermission.
